Whangarei Library
We collaborated with the lead architect, Jasmax, to provide the engineering design for the Whangarei Public Library. The original concept by Jasmax was inspired by the traditional Māori eel basket, with the building's design reflecting this cultural significance through its structural form and detailing. This notable civic building expresses the structural form which consists of precast concrete walls, concrete first floor and steel roof beams that extend outward to create an impressive canopy structure.
The concrete first floor features an unusual oval shape, presenting unique engineering challenges that were successfully addressed to ensure structural stability and integrity.
