Architecture

Every architectural project is led by a NZRAB registered architect, ensuring the highest professional standards are met. Our team will use their technical skill, experience, creativity and knowledge to respond to your brief and balance technical requirements with aesthetic, environmental and budget considerations.

We are flexible in our approach and adapt our services depending on the specific requirements of each project. Common to all projects is our desire to work closely with our clients to produce considered and responsive architecture that sits appropriately in its context.

Our design process:

While we tailor our services to suit your specific brief, most of our projects follow the work stages defined by the NZIA:

  1. Predesign – this is where we will gather information about your project- from checking council plans to site walkovers. We will also spend time with you discussing and refining the brief.
  2. Concept Design – during this stage we will test several ideas, iterate, and present these to you through drawings, sketches and 3D visualisations. This is often the most creative part of the process, and we like to put our clients at the centre of it.
  3. Developed Design – this is where we will take the concept design and transform it into a buildable project. We’ll seek more detailed input from our multidisciplinary team and work with planners (if required) to prepare documentation for any resource consent applications that may be needed.
  4. Detailed Design – during this stage we will produce construction details suitable for a building consent application and tender package. This includes careful co-ordination with other disciplines to ensure a fully integrated set of drawings and specification are provided. We will work closely with you to select the finishes, products and systems for your build.
  5. Contract Administration – we have experienced staff who can manage the tender process and administer your contract throughout the build.
  6. Project Observation – we will periodically visit the site during construction to ensure the contract drawings are being followed, monitor quality and deal with any unforeseen issues or changes.
  7. Completion – at the end of the project we will ensure that all the project documentation is complete and handed over to you. On some projects, particularly those with an environmental emphasis, our involvement can continue after completion through in use project monitoring.
