Kowhai Falls Shopping Centre

The development of the first building on the site was for The Warehouse and Noel Leeming. This building is constructed of LVL and Glulam timber superstructure, PIR roof and wall panels with mid height precast concrete panels. Due to the compressive nature of the underlying soils the site has had load compensating ground improvements using a combination of scoria, pumice sands and recycled polystyrene blocks. The concrete floor slab is a combination of suspended slab between piles and soft piled to limit settlement of the slab. The superstructure is fully supported on piles.

Hawthorn Geddes provided architectural and engineering services including geotechnical assessment and settlement analysis, mass block retaining wall design, structural analysis and civil design including flood analysis for the full site.
