Blue Pacific Resort

We were engaged by the Blue Pacific Resort Body Corp to address the continued weathering and erosion of the underlying slopes supporting the resort’s foundations. These slopes, composed of highly fractured and weathered Waipapa Group greywacke, had been significantly weakened due to historic mining activities and possible blasting. Ongoing instability posed a serious risk to the integrity of the resort’s foundations and the client’s investment.

Innovative Geotechnical Approach

We collaborated with Geovert in the early project stages to undertake on-site investigation and full-scale testing for rock anchors. This proactive approach allowed for optimised design efficiency, eliminating overly conservative assumptions and ensuring a tailored, cost-effective stabilisation solution.

The final geotechnical design featured a rock anchor stabilisation system, incorporating Geobrugg TECCO® high-tensile steel mesh and an integrated connection system. The TECCO® system works by:

  • Distributing loads efficiently across the slope, reducing localised stress concentrations.
  • Providing active reinforcement by working in tandem with high-capacity rock anchors, preventing progressive slope failure.
  • Minimizing further weathering and erosion, extending the life of the slope and safeguarding the underlying foundations

Successful Implementation & Client Confidence

We again partnered with Geovert during the construction phase, ensuring the seamless execution of the design and rigorous construction verification. The project was completed successfully, delivering long-term slope stability and reinforcing the security of the resort’s structures.

We are proud to have provided a robust and practical geotechnical solution, giving our client confidence in the protection of their assets against future slope failures.
